Popolana

This year\'s 19th edition of Popolana, a traditional sports and recreational event organized by the Sports Community of the City of Rovinj-Rovigno, will be held on April 26th and 27th with the slogan "Strength in unity, hope in movement. L\'unione fa la forza: Un passo verso la speranza."

As in previous years, the event, in addition to its sporting spirit, also emphasizes its humanitarian character. All proceeds from the sale of T-shirts (donations according to ability) are intended to help fellow citizen Slobodan Ikać, who faced serious health challenges. Due to complications with his arteries, he had to have his right lower leg amputated, and the funds raised will be used to purchase a prosthesis that will enable him to return to everyday life.

The Saturday program on April 26th will be held at the former train station (Kolodvorsko šetalište). From 11 am to 1 pm, free horseback riding is organized in collaboration with the Equestrian Club "Sveta Eufemija" and the Haber farm, and the only requirement for participation is the purchase of a Popolana T-shirt. In addition to horseback riding, the Scout Troop "Tino Lorenzetto" will be handing out fritters at its stand.

On Sunday, April 27, the program continues at the Basketball Courts near the Hotel Eden (Šetalište za Škarabu). A school sports day will be held in which Rovinj elementary and high schools will participate. The recreational part of the event includes a 5 km walk and run - a route from the basketball courts to the Delfin swimming pool, with a return trip through the Zlatni rt park-forest, then a guided bike ride of 20-25 km.

The competitive part includes a 10 km race and a half marathon, which has been held for the 17th year in a row.To participate in recreational activities, you need to purchase a Popolana T-shirt, while applications for the competitive part are available at the link: Popolana.

This year, Popolana will also be completed by members of sports associations, who will present their activities and demonstrate their sports disciplines. The event promotes the importance of a healthy lifestyle, recreation and solidarity, and a large turnout of citizens, recreationalists and athletes is expected.
